Is Alzheimer’s now optional?

In this session, Feisal and Dr. Dale Bredesen will explore Alzheimer’s as a common and untreatable illness, how Dr. Bredesen’s research suggests a new model that has led to the first successful clinical trial. When combining the results and early detection and symptom recognition, it is now possible to make Alzheimer’s optional.

Dr. Dale Bredesen: Dr. Bredesen graduated from Caltech and received his MD from Duke.  He served as Resident and Chief Resident in Neurology at UCSF, then was postdoctoral fellow with Nobel laureate Prof. Stanley Prusiner.  He was the Founding President of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.The Bredesen Laboratory studied basic mechanisms underlying the neurodegenerative process, and the translation into effective therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease, leading to the publication of over 220 research papers. He established the Alzheimer’s Drug Development Network with Dr. Varghese John, leading to the identification of new classes of therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease.

His work led to the discovery of subtypes of Alzheimer’s disease, followed by the first description of reversal of symptoms in patients with MCI and Alzheimer’s disease, with a precision medicine protocol, and a recent successful proof-of-concept trial.  Dr. Bredesen is the author of two New York Times best sellers. He is currently a professor at UCLA.

The author of numerous publications, Philip is also the author of The Destructive Power of Family Wealth published by John Wiley & Sons. Among others, Philip is a member of the Public Policy Committee of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and chairs its Responsible Stewardship of Wealth thought leadership group. Philip Marcovici holds law degrees from each of Harvard Law School and the University of Ottawa (magna cum laude).
Iraj Ispahani: Iraj Ispahani is CEO of Ispahani Advisory and based in London. Ispahani Advisory advises family and private businesses on business strategy, governance, people, and education. Iraj serves as a Board Member of the Ispahani Group, a family business headquartered in Bangladesh which marked 200 years in 2020. Dato Loy Teik Ngan: In 1987, as a 26 years old entrepreneur, Dato Loy Teik Ngan founded Leisure Holidays Berhad after spotting an opportunity in the budding vacation timeshare industry.

Teik Ngan took over the reins of his family business, the MBf Group upon his father’s demise. It was during the Asian financial crisis of 1998 and within a year, the sprawling business empire that took 35 years to build, collapsed under the weight of huge debts. It took 14 years before these family debts were eventually settled.
