About Terri O’Fallon: Terri O’Fallon, PhD is an Integral scholar whose research spans 40 years, including eleven research studies conducted in various colleges, public schools, and private research venues. She completed her PhD in Integral Studies, “Learning and change in Human systems”, in 1998 at The California Institute for Integral Studies and having masters degrees in Spiritual Direction and Special Education. These embodied experiences inform her primary theory, research, and teaching theme: growing up is waking up throughout the lifespan.

Her most recent theory, and the culmination of a lifetime of work, is the STAGES model of human development. STAGES integrates several developmental models and is informed by Ken Wilber’s Integral Theory and Terri’s own research, to form a robust and predictive map that is being used by numerous scholars, practitioners, and leaders throughout the world.

Terri’s theory and research are founded in a passionate practice of auspicious curiosity, learning, and marinating in life. Her interest in life span development naturally arose from her experience in the field of education.

Dato Loy Teik Ngan: In 1987, as a 26 years old entrepreneur, Dato Loy Teik Ngan founded Leisure Holidays Berhad after spotting an opportunity in the budding vacation timeshare industry.

Teik Ngan took over the reins of his family business, the MBf Group upon his father’s demise. It was during the Asian financial crisis of 1998 and within a year, the sprawling business empire that took 35 years to build, collapsed under the weight of huge debts. It took 14 years before these family debts were eventually settled.

In this time, he built a new family business, focused on education. The Taylor’s Education Group is today the largest private education group in Malaysia. Focused on premium education, Taylor’s K-12 schools, college & universities are well known, trusted and award-winning brands operating in Malaysia, Singapore & Vietnam. In 2020, Taylor’s University was ranked as the Top Private University in Southeast Asia and made it into the Top 100 Universities in Asia, at #89. It was also ranked in the Top #50 Universities in the World under 50 Years Old.

My Personal Journey with Succession in the Family Business

In this session, Carlos will share how succession played out for him in his family’s business, family business governance, and managing relationships with family shareholders.

Carlos Gallardo: Carlos is the Vice-Chairman of the Board at Almirall S.A., a Spanish-based publicly traded pharmaceutical company. Almirall is a family business controlled by the Gallardo family group.

Carlos is also the founder and CEO of CG Health Ventures. CG Health Ventures builds digital health companies and invests in early stage digital health companies in the US and Europe. Prior to that, Carlos spent 12 years working in the pharmaceutical industry at Almirall (UK & Spain) and at Pfizer (USA).

Carlos holds an MS in Industrial Engineering from the UPC in Barcelona and a MBA from Stanford University.

He is a member of the Advisory Board of FiscalNote, the Family Business Network (FBN) Asia, and Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO). He received his B.S. and MBA from Cornell University.
